Tanzania's football giants Simba and Young Africans have expressed dissatisfaction with the figures announced by the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF), in regards to the gate collection for their derby.
TFF released the figure of TSh420 million (US$330,000) as the total gate collection, but the Young Africans secretary general, Lawrence Mwalusako, told The Citizen they expected the match to raise over Sh700million (US$550,000).
Mwalusako said the club doubted the figure, as it didn't match with an amount of over 48,000 spectators, who paid between the sold out TSh5000 (US$4) and Tsh7000 (US$6), as the lowest to the highest TSh60,000 (US$47) and TSh50,000 US$ 39) per head.
"At least TSh600 million (US$470,000) could go close to the estimation, but then said Sh420 million is hardly acceptable," said Mwalusako.
Simba SC information officer, Clifford Ndimbo, declined to comment, saying that he was not authorized to discuss the matter prior to the official go ahead from the club's executive committee.
For the record, Simba beat Yanga 1-0 during the hotly contested derby.
