The news came Tuesday afternoon from Conakry that the Minister of Sports and Youth Activities had decided that the Syli National of Guinea would not be active any more until further notice.

In an interview relayed by Belgian newspaper La Dernière Heure, the Minister of Sports declared that, in contact with the President of the Junta, Captain Moussa Dadis Camara, the regime decided to put the National team on standby until further notice.

It was already known that the triplet at the helm of the selection, Mamadi Souaré, Fodé Laye Camara and Mandjou Diallo were all fired from their jobs after the humiliating loss to an Ivorian team without most of their best players.

The trio was hired after local legend and former National director of Football Aboubacar "Titi" Camara was appointed by the new president himself and coached the Syli National for two games after Claude Nouzaret was let go in July 2009.

The official reason for dismantling the National team is "a lack of results and a shameful lack of discipline". The country was particularly shocked when pictures were published of the players partying in Burkina Faso a night prior to their Burkina-Faso game.

With the current political state in the country, many players decided to leave the selection  just after the Abidjan game and go back to their respective homes without going back to Guinea for fear of being attacked by their compatriots.

The atmosphere in the Guinean selection was revolting to most of their countrymen and even players like Pascal Feinduno, a semi-god in his country is getting unheard of backlash for his late-night antics ahead of important games.

For the moment, the Minister did not give further information as to how this affair would unfold but this is an incredible blow to a team that rebuilt themselves and managed to reach the quarter-finals in the last three African Cup of Nations.
