Warri Wolves are the latest leaders of the Nigeria Premier League after they defeated Heartland of Owerri 3-2 in a rescheduled match on Wednesday.
Wolves shot to the summit of the league with 13 points, ahead of Enyimba and Kano Pillars by virtue of their superior goal difference.
Heartland took the lead as early as the third minute through newly-signed Liberian striker Bill Sheriff, but the hosts drew level on 19 minutes via skipper Goodluck Onamado.
Former youth international Gift Atulewa put Wolves ahead just before the break, only for Heartland to restore parity minutes after the restart through Kingsley Elvis.
Striker Eddy Ogude then gave Wolves the win with the match-winner in the 74th minute.
Champions Bayelsa compounded the woes of bottom team Sharks of Port Harcourt with a 2-1 victory at the Oghara Township Stadium. Bayelsa raced to a two-goal lead after 33 minutes with goals from Mannir Ubale and Jerome Ezoba, before Okiemute Odah pulled a strike back for the visitors on the stroke of half-time.
In another rescheduled match, Kano Pillars had to wait until the second half to score three goals against Zamfara United, helping them move within the top-four bracket.
Gambo Mohammed, Usman Abba and an own goal by Friday Onyeku gave the home side a comfortable win.
