At least six players from the Nigerian domestic league will have a chance to stake a claim for a place in the country's squad for next year's Africa Cup of Nations, officials have revealed.
Chibuzo Okonkwo is expected to lead several of his Heartland team-mates to the Eagles training camp, when it opens in Namibia on December 27, officials have informed Goal.com
Heartland reached the final of this year's CAF Champions League and several of their players caught the eye and will now be rewarded with a call-up to the national team.
Nigeria coach, Shuaibu Amodu, is expected to soon make public his 35-man squad for the Nations Cup training camp with Okonkwo leading six players from the local league.
Amodu's critics have argued that the coach overlooked players from the domestic championship and this latest move may likely win some of his critics over.
