One player repeatedly linked with the West Midlanders is Rangers' former skipper Barry Ferguson, a man who has enjoyed a controversial time since his well-documented bad behaviour whilst away on international duty with Scotland.
Although the player seems likely to leave Ibrox at some stage soon, McLeish confirmed once again today that, as yet, his club had made no move for Ferguson.
"Barry Ferguson is a player under consideration amongst a number of others, but there's no imminent deal there at the moment," the manager told Sky Sports News.
"Possibly we need to look at two midfielders, but certainly Barry's under consideration."
McLeish also reacted to claims that he had been in dispute with his board regarding the signing of Ecuadorean defender Espinoza, a player whom the Scotsman had only seen in action on DVD.
"The problem was not having seen the player in the flesh, but I knew all about his pedigree," he explained.
"The board assured me that if we signed Giovanny and it was within the parameters of the board's finances then there would still be the opportunity to further invest."
