Virtual unknown Anton Peterlin is set to sign for Everton in what he has described as a "miracle".
The Liverpool Echo reports that 22-year-old Peterlin will sign for the Toffees from Ventura County Fusion, who play in the fourth tier of the US league system, for a nominal fee.
Peterlin was recommended to the Merseysiders by Fusion boss Graham Smith, a former West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper.
Toffees boss David Moyes said, "Anton really impressed myself and the coaching staff with his attitude and undoubted ability. We are therefore delighted to give him the chance to establish a professional career here at Everton."
Peterlin himself told ESPN, "The trial period I was there was great. To play alongside some great names like Phil Neville, Tim Cahill and Tim Howard was an experience.
"It’s cliche to say, but it really is a dream come true. I am not sure how often miracles happen, but I will not squander this opportunity."
Smith, the American's soon-to-be former boss said, "He’s a very intelligent young boy. He has the mental capacity as well as the physical capacity to succeed. Moyes put him with the first team and Anton did not look out of place"
Peterlin rejected contracts from MLS sides Chicago Fire and San Jose Earthquakes and is expected to sign for Everton when the squad fly-out for their pre-season tour of the US.
