Everton manager, David Moyes, has showed his frustration with his side's hectic Premier League and European League schedule, stating that the congestion of matches has contributed to their form slump.
The 2-0 loss to Benfica on Thursday has extended the Toffees’ winless streak to seven games, and with a mounting injury list at Goodison Park, it is easy to see why the boss is not happy.
In criticising the busy schedule, Moyes was also keen on expressing that it had cost his side some much-needed momentum in resurging their season.
He said to Sky Sports: “With the squads we have got, us particularly, it is very difficult to win Premier League games when you have got so many midweek games.”
He added: “We do not have that depth of squad, so we could look back and say that Europe has been a hindrance to us.”
However, the 46-year-old stated that he does not mean to be rude about playing in Europe.
“I don't like talking that way. I have always wanted to talk positively about playing in Europe, we always want to qualify.
“But undoubtedly it could be having some effect on the domestic results we are getting now,” he concluded.
