Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen believes there is still plenty of room for improvement in his performances at the club, despite his explosive start.
The Belgian defender has been lauded by fans and pundits alike since arriving in north London from Ajax over the summer.
Vermaelen is far from content though, even after making a significant early contribution at both ends of the pitch.
"I'm not satisfied yet, there are improvements I can make," the stopper said, according to the Sunday Mirror.
"I am learning from other players and the coaching staff and I want to improve every single day.
"I am very very pleased with my start. But the most important thing is to keep playing like this, and we are still early in a long season."
On his surprise goal return, having struck five times already this season, Vermaelen added: "I'm definitely not worried about scoring - I haven't scored for a few games now anyway.
"For me, and any defender, I am more pleased with a clean sheet than scoring myself."
