Former Republic of Ireland and Arsenal and legend Liam Brady has blasting France's Thierry Henry for his blatant handball in the World Cup qualifying play-off between the Ireland and France.

Henry made global headlines when he set up William Gallas' goal with the aid of his hand. The strike was the telling difference, sending Les Bleus through to her fourth consecutive World Cup finals, in turn breaking Irish hearts, including Brady's.

“From the 120 minutes, we deserved to win and it is a shameful day for football when something like that happens,” he said, as quoted by The Mirror.

"It wasn't up to Henry to say I touched it with my hand. It's not his task to say he handles it. He cannot say, 'Excuse me, referee, I handled it'."

Brady, Arsenal’s Head of Youth Development, also took a swipe at FIFA whom he believes machinated the play-offs draw to favour certain nations.

“When it comes to the crunch, the big teams always seem to go through. With the draw, they were wanting Portugal and France to go through and they did.”

Brady's comments could evoke mixed emotions from the Arsenal headquarters given the club's large French contingent, and Thierry Henry's legend status amongst the Gunners faithful.
