Ipswich Town manager Roy Keane has apologised for his rant in the wake of Ireland's controversial defeat to France in the World Cup Play Offs.
The former Ireland international - who was sent home from the 2002 World Cup after falling out with then manager Mick McCarthy - said his country should "get over it".
Ireland lost 2-1 on aggregate, with Thierry Henry handling the ball twice before setting up William Gallas for Les Bleus' winning goal.
"Ireland had their chances in the two games and they never took them. They had chances at Croke Park (in the first leg) and they had chances on Wednesday," he said.
"They didn't take them, but it's the usual FAI (Football Association of Ireland) reaction - 'we've been robbed, the honesty of the game...' It's rubbish."
Keane was challenged on his remarks by an Ipswich shareholder at the club's Annual General Meeting.
He said: "The comments were perhaps over the top and I apologise to any supporter I might have offended.
"I'm 38 years of age and I'm going to make mistakes."
