Ligue 1’s biggest game of the season could become a high profile victim of swine flu, according to radio station RMC, who are suggesting that Paris Saint-Germain could apply to have their match against Olympique de Marseille postponed from Sunday.

Les Parisiens’ squad has been hit with a virus, and tests are currently underway to examine whether or not it is H1N1 strain of flu. Ludovic Giuly was housebound during Friday’s training session due to his symptoms, while several other members of Antoine Kombouare’s workforce were also hampered by illness. Although Jeremy Clement and Mamadou Sakho both trained, they were largely reduced to jogging.

If the tests come back positive that the players are infected with swine flu, it is suggested that the meeting could be postponed to a later date, though les Parisiens will have to apply for such a delay.

As well as their virally-infected troops, PSG will also be without Zoumana Camara and Guillaume Hoarau, who is out until the Christmas break. Meanwhile, Mevlut Erding has only just resumed training.

With Marseille boasting a far healthier squad, and in far better spirits than their opponents after beating FC Zurich in the Champions League in midweek, a postponement would certainly not suit coach Didier Deschamps.

OM-PSG is regarded as the most fiercely competitive fixture in Le Championnat's calendar and has been much-anticipated in France all week.
