Benfica had announced last month that they would retain the services of coach Quique Sanchez Flores.
But the Eagles have since made a U-turn on their decision after reaching an agreement with the 44-year-old to terminate his contract, which runs until June 2010.
The club released an official statement, which read, “Enrique Sanchez Flores and his technical team have reached, in principle, an accord to mutually revoke their contract which bonded them until the end of the 2009-10 season.”
