‘Boring’ Man Utd behind Liverpool in transfer market - Ince

Manchester United’s “boring” brand of football has seen them become less attractive to prospective signings than arch-rivals Liverpool, claims Paul Ince.

The Red Devils boast the history and spending power to compete with the best in the business when it comes to the pursuit of world football’s top talent.

Jose Mourinho has, however, seen his methods questioned, with a supposed defensive mindset frustrating certain players and a demanding fan base.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have seen their swashbuckling approach under Jurgen Klopp lead them to the Champions League final, with it likely that they would now prevail in any transfer tussle with an old adversary.

That is the opinion of Ince, with a man who graced the books at Old Trafford and Anfield in his playing days telling Paddy Power: “If they lift the [Champions League] trophy, teams like Man United, Man City, Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal will be feeling seriously worried and seriously embarrassed ahead of next season.

“As a player, would you prefer to go to a team where they’re playing the kind of football Klopp is and winning the Champions League? Of course you would.

“You’d much prefer that to going to Man United where they’re playing boring, negative football.

“Most people I speak to say the title next season is going to be between Manchester City and Liverpool.

“And I believe that says it all in terms of where Klopp’s vision is going and the position he has the club in at the minute.”

Liverpool are set to face holders Real Madrid in the Champions League final on Saturday.

The Blancos are going in search of a hat-trick of European triumphs, while Liverpool are hoping to conquer the continent for the first time since their remarkable ‘Miracle of Istanbul’ success in 2005.
