Eric Choupo-Moting on scoring Cameroon's winner against Malawi

Eric Choupo-Moting is not taking sole credit for his goal that sank Malawi 1-0 in Yaoundé. Clarence Seedorf recorded his first win as the Indomitable Lions coach on Friday.

Moting proved to be the difference against a stubborn Malawi side that threatened to steal a point at the Stade Omnisport Ahmadou Ahidjo.

Refusing to bask in the glory of deciding the contest, Moting attributed the win to teamwork.

“I think I have the quality to make the difference from time to time,” Choupo-Moting said after the match to Camfoot.

“I am very happy that today it has worked. But it was a team effort. Jacques Zoua gave me a good pass and I made a good decision. And luckily, I hit it well.

“But as the coach also said, we had a good match, we had enough chances. It is the most important (factor). I will continue to give everything to help the team, show my qualities, and after that we will see.”

It was a welcome victory and relief for Seedorf who began his reign as Cameroon coach with a 1-1 away draw in Comoros.

Cameroon will host the 2019 Afcon finals and are participating in the qualifiers to gain experience. They top Group B with an unbeaten run of two wins and a draw.
