Low sets record for most matches in charge of Germany

Joachim Low has broken the record for most matches as Germany manager by taking charge of Saturday's game against the Netherlands. 

Low was at the helm of Germany for the 168th time in the UEFA Nations League clash in Amsterdam, breaking the record previously held by Sepp Herberger.

The 58-year-old was Jurgen Klinsmann's assistant at the 2006 World Cup, helping Germany to a third-place finish at home. 

Following the World Cup, Low took over from Klinsmann as Germany's manager, and has led Die Mannschaft to several notable achievements during his 12 years at the helm.

Most notably, Low helped Germany to the 2014 World Cup title, while also leading his nation to second place at Euro 2008, third place at the 2010 World Cup, and the 2017 Confederations Cup title.

Low handed Schalke forward Mark Uth his Germany debut against the Netherlands, making him the 100th player to earn their first Germany cap during Low's reign. 

Following a shocking group-stage exit at the World Cup Low's future was called into doubt, but he has since confirmed he will stay on as Germany boss.
