Premier League Betting: Liverpool 7/1 to go unbeaten after win over Manchester City

Liverpool’s 3-1 victory over Manchester City on Sunday afternoon took the Reds eight points clear at the top of the Premier League and made it 29 games unbeaten in the tournament.

Indeed, Jurgen Klopp’s men last tasted defeat in the league at the Etihad Stadium in January and have started the 2019-20 season with 11 wins and one draw from their first 12 games, prompting bet365 to offer them at 7/1 (8.0) to go the season unbeaten.

The Reds have already faced Chelsea, Tottenham, Leicester and both Manchester clubs, only dropping points against Man Utd so far this season, and will be confident of replicating their success from last term.

That defeat at Man City in January was their only loss in 2018-19 and the Reds won 30 of their 38 games.

Crucially, they have already bettered some of their results from that season by beating City and Leicester at home – the only matches they failed to win at Anfield – and took three points at Stamford Bridge after drawing there last season.

Of course, there are 26 matches to go this time around and the Reds still face tough trips to Leicester, Man City, Arsenal and Tottenham, as well as a fixture list that is fit to burst.

As well as their Premier League duties, Klopp’s men are in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals and play Aston Villa less than 24 hours before their Club World Cup semi-final, which will see Liverpool field a completely different team in each game.

The Reds are also on the cusp of the Champions League last-16, although winning the tournament last season did not impact their league form as they won all but two of their Premier League games after their match in the knockouts.

Going an entire Premier League season undefeated has only ever happened once before when Arsenal managed the feat in 2003-04, eventually going 49 games without losing.

Should Liverpool manage to go this term without being beaten, they would reach that 49-game mark at the Etihad Stadium as the fixture list currently stands.

In the outright market, Klopp’s side are just 2/5 (1.40) with bet365 to win the Premier League with Man City out at 9/4 (3.25). Leicester and Chelsea are both 33/1 (34.0) despite being above Pep Guardiola’s men.
