<p>Set to take over from Erik ten Hag, <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/now-or-never-ruben-amorim-appointed-man-utd-head-coach-outgoing-sporting-cp-boss-request-rejected/bltab28f3bb782e2930" target="_blank">Amorim will assume his managerial duties</a> at United on November 11, with his contract running through June 2027. The 39-year-old Amorim will become the sixth full-time manager at the club since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013.</p>

During his tenure, he led Sporting to two Portuguese league championships, with one ending an 18-year title drought for the club. The United board is banking on Amorim’s track record of overcoming odds and establishing a winning culture, both of which align with the club’s aspirations to recapture its former glory.</p>

<p>Palhinha expressed admiration for Amorim’s career milestone, calling it a significant achievement and he emphasised his former team-mate and coach's readiness for such a prominent role.</p><p>"I wish him all the best," the Bayern midfielder told reporters on Tuesday. "It's a big step for him and he deserves it. As a former team-mate and friend, I wish him all the best and much success."</p>

WHAT PALHINHA SAID

<p>As Amorim prepares to officially take charge, former United striker <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/ruud-van-nistelrooy-stance-man-utd-chelsea-draw-incoming-ruben-amorim-faces-big-decision/blt01e29686b24e7937" target="_blank">Ruud van Nistelrooy will continue to work in an interim role</a>.
