England star James will be one of the favourites to win the accolade after scoring five goals in her two league appearances for Chelsea last month, <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/chelsea-women-player-ratings-vs-man-utd-lauren-james/blt6204db93f58cbde8" target="_blank">that including a hat-trick against former club Manchester United</a>. Fox, meanwhile, has settled into life in England brilliantly. The United States women's national team defender signed for Arsenal in the January transfer window <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/watch-arsenal-vivienne-miedema-wsl-clash-liverpool-first-goal-since-december-2022-uswnt-star-emily-fox-assists/bltf711beb2ab2b9a1c" target="_blank">and already has an assist to her name</a>.

Completing the nominees are Leicester's Janice Cayman, scorer of the only goal in the Foxes' win over Everton, and West Ham forward Vivianne Asseyi, who netted a crucial winner in the Hammers' clash with relegation rivals Bristol City last week.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Shaw and James have emerged as the front-runners for the WSL Golden Boot this season, the former having scored 13 times and James just once fewer after 11 rounds of action.
