Gomez looked set to join Newcastle in a £45m deal, with Gordon heading the other way for £75m ($96m). Ultimately, Newcastle pulled the plug on the Gomez-Gordon exchange as they were able to meet PSR regulations without offloading their star winger. Yankuba Minteh was sold to Brighton while Elliot Anderson joined Nottingham Forest. As such, Gomez now faces an uncertain future as Liverpool have made clear they are open to selling the England international, and there is interest in his signature.

The Mail's report claims Gomez has interest from Saudi Arabia, although the 27-year-old's experience and versatility will make him an attractive option for a number of clubs seeking to bolster their defence.
