‘Pure cringe’ – Angry Wrexham fans hit out at ‘attempted forced rivalry’ after League One opponents take aim at Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s side

<p>After beating <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/louie-barry-haunts-wrexham-again-red-dragons-stung-by-stockport-county-as-aston-villa-loanee-s-stunner-delivers-valuable-win-in-league-one-promotion-battle/blt2a3de2d839e69781" target="_blank">Wrexham in a tightly-fought 1-0 home win</a>, Stockport fans were overjoyed, and it appears that so was their admin on X (formerly Twitter).</p><p>Following the win, the admin for the club's main page on the platform aimed a sly blow at Wrexham, in a move that has opposing fans labelling the move as "pure cringe."</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Wrexham headed into the game as favourites, and at kick-off, led Stockport in the table by four points and a game in hand. However, this gap seemed to fuel Stockport's desire to win, and the home side bagged the only goal of the game courtesy of a 24th minute Louie Barry strike.</p><p>Dominating the game throughout, Stockport never looked back, and at the full time whistle, they had reeled the Welsh side back to one point ahead in the League One table.</p>

<p>Following the game, Wrexham fans noticed a change to Stockport's bio, and posted a screenshot of the new development, which stated: "W against Wrexham", followed by a love-eyes emoji. Fans were quick to hit back.</p><p>Wrexham fan <a href="https://x.com/beardywxm">@beardywxm</a> wrote on X: "They already won, this is pure cringe from an official club account.</p><p>Another supporter <a href="https://x.com/natashaeveritt7">@natashaeveritt7</a> posted: "I know we did half and half scarves but come on now."</p><p>And podcast @fearlessidzine added: "Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, have you reached a verdict? Yes, your honour. Do you find the defendant guilty or not guilty of attempted forced rivalry? WHAT THE FANS HAVE  SAID

<p>With Wrexham and Stockport now separated by just a point in the table, albeit Phil Parkinson's side have a game in hand, the two are now both realistic contenders for an automatic promotion spot come the end of the season.</p><p>Wrexham host Exeter on Saturday in a bid to maintain their cushion to the teams behind them, while Stockport will be looking to close the gap by picking up a win away to Burton Albion on Saturday.</p>
