<p>The <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/lamine-yamal-ansu-fati-record-history-wonderkid-barcelona/blta0ff7e6db04aad66" target="_blank">17-year-old has been smashing records for Barcelona</a> and Spain following his breakthrough with the Catalan club. He has six goals and eight assists in a strong start to this season after his key role in La Roja's Euro 2024 success.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>At 36 years of age, a 10-time Bundesliga champion and Champions League winner, Lewandowski is the oldest and most decorated player in the Barcelona squad and he has revealed the support he has been offering to Yamal as he outlined the biggest challenge facing the youngster.</p>

<p>He said on <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTLuqjxSMX8" target="_blank">Rio Ferdinand's podcast</a>: "I always try to give him some advice because, on one hand, it’s incredible what he has achieved and what he’s doing, but he also has to realize that soon he’ll face the big challenge of maintaining this level and even going further. And we’re not just talking about the next two or three years—maybe the next ten. About what he needs to do to stay at the top until he’s 28, 29, 30 years old or even longer. That will be the biggest challenge of his career."</p>

WHAT LEWANDOWSKI SAID

<p>Both <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/barcelona-confirm-extent-of-lamine-yamal-ankle-injury-robert-lewandowski-joins-wonderkid-treatment-room/blt35ea0e8d06dcecc8" target="_blank">Yamal and Lewandowski sustained injuries earlier this month</a> that saw the pair pull out of their respective national teams for the recent Nations League matches. While the Poland star is expected back soon, <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/barcelona-suffer-lamine-yamal-setback-wonderkid-set-extended-spell-sidelines-after-ankle-injury/bltc829d737991063d3" target="_blank">Yamal is unlikely to feature against Celta this week</a>.</p>
