Fantasy Football: Manchester City land three players in our Premier League Team of the Week

Week six of the Premier League season is now done and dusted, and it was another exciting one. There were plenty of goals on offer with four teams scoring at least three times (Burnley, Manchester City, Leicester, Liverpool), which naturally led to a high scoring week in the Goal game. In fact, all of those teams are represented in our Team of the Week with Marcos Alonso the only player included that is not a member of one of those teams. To see which players made the cut, just keep reading.

GK: Joe Hart - Burnley - 1 Game, 6 Saves, 1 Clean Sheet = 10 Points

DEF: Joel Matip - Liverpool - 1 Game, 1 Goal, 1 Clean Sheet = 14 Points

After weeks of failing to crack Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI, Matip certainly made his presence known in his first start of the season. His goal and clean sheet helped Liverpool to a 3-0 win over Southampton and also earned him a league-high 14 points in the Goal game this week. Liverpool’s defence have kept the most clean sheets already this season so, if Matip becomes a regular he could have plenty of value but it’s probably best to hold off for now.

DEF: Trent Alexander-Arnold - Liverpool - 1 Game, 1 Assist, 1 Clean Sheet = 10 Points

DEF: Marcos Alonso - Chelsea - 1 Game, 1 Clean Sheet = 7 Points

MID: Riyad Mahrez - Manchester City - 1 Substitute Appearance, 2 Goals = 13 Points

Like Matip, Mahrez has yet to nail down a starting place, but he sure made the most of the 29 minutes he was given on Saturday. The City man scored a fantastic brace and surely get his share of minutes throughout the season. It’s always hard to predict what manager Pep Guardiola will do with his line up but since you can change your Goal team right up until kick off, it’s much easier to own stars who are also rotation risks.

MID: Aaron Lennon - Burnley - 1 Game, 1 Goal, 1 Assist = 11 Points

MID: Bernardo Silva - Manchester City - 1 Game, 1 Goal, 1 Assist = 11 Points

Silva has been a very frustrating prospect in Fantasy thus far. When Kevin De Bruyne suffered his injury, it seemed Bernardo would be the perfect cheap replacement, but his Fantasy performances have been far from terrific. Prior to this weekend, the Portuguese international had started all but one match and only one goal to show for his efforts. His goal and assist this week were impressive, it just doesn't also mean you should rush to add him to your team.

MID: Ilkay Gundogan - Manchester City - 1 Game, 1 Goal, 1 Assist = 11 Points

FOR: Ashley Barnes - Burnley - 1 Substitute Appearance, 2 Goals = 11 Points

It truly was the week of “super subs” as the only two players to score a brace this week, Mahrez and Barnes, both came off the bench. While Barnes has played an important role at times for Burnley, it seems clear that the Wood and Vydra pairing sill get the majority of starts up front. It’s unlikely that Burnley will score enough goals to roster a backup striker, but full credit to him for his performance on Saturday.

FOR: Jamie Vardy - Leicester City - 1 Game, 1 Goal, 1 Assist = 10 Points

FOR: Kelechi Iheanacho - Leicester City - 1 Game, 1 Goal, 1 Assist = 10 Points
