<p>It was a night to forget for the former Manchester City and Liverpool winger as he displayed a disastrous show in the club's <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/chelsea-player-ratings-leicester-city-cole-palmer-raheem-sterling/bltc827dd582cf0f0a2" target="_blank">FA Cup quarter-final clash against Leicester City</a> on Sunday. Sterling missed a penalty in the first half that could have doubled the Blues' lead over the Foxes and then blasted a free-kick well off target towards the end of the second half.</p><p>Although the west London side eventually emerged victorious, <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/raheem-sterling-robert-sanchez-not-chelsea-level-fans-despair-first-half-stinkers-fa-cup-quarter-final-leicester/blt46f67a27609d3391#cs0664738e4737cc3d" target="_blank">Sterling was jeered by the fans at Stamford Bridge</a> and the <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-in/lists/raheem-sterling-apologises-penalty-miss-booed-chelsea-fa-cup-leicester/bltd6c7846457337bf2#cs9c7155c049e98184" target="_blank">player later took to Instagram to apologise for a dismal show</a>.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>On the English winger's apologetic post on Instagram, a host of Chelsea players including Palmer, Malo Gusto and Enzo Fernandez showed their solidarity with the player by leaving a reply in his comment section.</p><p>Palmer commented, "My brother. <p>After the match, manager <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/mauricio-pochettino-hits-back-raheem-sterling-boos-tells-fans-not-to-criticise-chelsea-fa-cup-win/blt22370578e8d0d073#cs688eb0dc798fe7b3" target="_blank">Mauricio Pochettino also came to the experienced player's defence</a> as he urged the fans not to jeer at Sterling after just one unfortunate performance on the pitch.</p>
