WHAT HAPPENED?

@UtdYahz wrote on X: "I do not feel sorry for you Jim you had the opportunity to sack him and you gave him a contract extension nothing was going to change you did everything including getting rid of Jadon to appease the manager and it’s backfired at least do the right thing and sack him."@JoeSillett stated: "If Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Omar Berrada, Dan Ashworth and Jason Wilcox think that Erik ten Hag is the man to take Manchester United forward after all of the evidence we have seen in the last 2 years, then they are literally drunk at the wheel. WHAT THE FANS ARE SAYING

While it is early days in the season, manager Ten Hag will be under pressure to keep his job if the team don't pick up wins quickly. The Red Devils spent around&nbsp;<a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/completed-man-utd-transfers-2024-25/bltd596463ab5905ecf">£180 million ($236m) on transfers this summer</a>, with the United hierarchy deciding against sacking the Dutchman a couple of months ago - as they weighed up his FA Cup win with an eighth-place finish last season. Ratcliffe may pull the trigger soon, however, if they aren't close to the top of the table in the coming months.

Much of United's squad will now head off on international duty over the next fortnight, before returning to Premier League action away at struggling Southampton on September 14.
