Real Madrid took moved to the summit of La Liga this past weekend with a 1-0 victory at Real Valladolid.
Defender Nacho was the unlikely hero of the hour, rising above the Valladolid defence to head the only goal of the game with 12 minutes remaining.
And the Blancos weren’t the only ones to celebrate victory thanks to a maiden goalscorer this term, with Villarreal unearthing a local hero in youngster Fer Nino.
The 19-year-old arrived from the bench to mark his Liga debut with the winner in a 2-1 triumph over Alaves.
Elsewhere, bottom-club Espanyol were relieved to see Raul De Thomas continue his fine start to life in Barcelona, as he rescued a point at home to Athletic with his second goal in two games since arriving from Benfica.
