The PUBG Global Series is heading to Riyadh – here are five teams to watch when the action gets underway at the Gamers8 festival

Gamers8: The Land of Heroes has hosted 15 elite tournaments from 12 top titles since it began on July 6. After hosting the six-day PUBG Mobile World Invitational in July, Gamers8 will now be welcoming PUBG PC players from all over the world as teams gear up for the PUBG Global Series 2023 Phase 2. The competition takes place in Riyadh between August 10-20.

If you’re new to PUBG, or don’t have a clue which teams you should be watching, we’re going to break down our five favourites to take first place and a tidy $600,000 winning prize.

17 Gaming

We couldn’t start this list without talking about the powerhouse team from China, 17 Gaming. The winners of the PUBG Global Series Phase 1, this team put on a monumental display to take the crown after placing in the losers’ bracket. Since 2018 they have consistently placed in the top three of major competitions and are widely recognised as one of, if not the, best PUBG PC teams in the world.

You would be remiss not to favour them as they head to Riyadh for Phase 2.

Danawa e-sports

The Korean powerhouse PUBG team came fourth in the overall standings during Phase 1 after a surprise performance from European team Acend. After placing second in the group stage many people expected Danawa to be favourites to win, but they couldn’t quite close it out.

Another extremely strong competitor, this team is surely a favourite for Phase 2 and could win it all when the tournament kicks off.

Luminosity Gaming

After placing first in the Phase 1 group stage with a sizable point lead over second-place hopefuls Danawa, Luminosity carried the hopes of the North American region as they head into the final stages of the tournament. Unfortunately, they were only able to place 16th and weren’t able to replicate their form during those early stages.

Despite this, they are still one of the most decorated North American PUBG teams and a good performance in Riyadh could see them net their biggest prize to date.

Cerberus Esports

This Vietnamese PUBG team impressed during Phase 1 with a third place group stage finish and a seventh place overall placement in the event. With consistently high placements since 2020, the team are strong contenders to swing big in Phase 2 at Gamers8 in Riyadh.

As one of the six Asia Pacific teams that have qualified for Gamers8, they will seek to put APAC on the map once again in PUBG.

Natus Vincere

How could we talk about PUBG without mentioning the European powerhouses of Na’Vi? Despite a subdued performance in Phase 1 this year, the team will be looking to return to its former glory in Riyadh as they tackle the global competition in Phase 2.

They will be closely tracked by their European rivals Faze Clan as they battle it out to put Europe on top of global PUBG once more.
