'A dream come true' - Cristiano Ronaldo sends emotional message as Portugal are confirmed as co-hosts of 2030 World Cup

<p>FIFA officially confirmed on Wednesday that Portugal, Spain and Morocco will co-host the 2030 World Cup. <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/morocco-spain-and-portugal-named-2030-world-cup-host-nations/blt072d7fa539015fc3" target="_blank">The announcement comes as no surprise as the joint bid was the only one presented</a>. The opening three matches of the tournament will be held in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay - to mark the competition's centenary - before the action switches back to Europe and North Africa.</p>

<p>The news has gone down well in Portugal with Ronaldo who is clearly thrilled at the news. The Al-Nassr superstar is <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/cristiano-ronaldo-2026-world-cup-vitinha-portugal-criticism/blt1c3a3b594ad031d2#cs6d0c3911da039423" target="_blank">being tipped to play at World Cup 2026</a>, even though he will be 41 when the tournament rolls around, and says it's a dream to see his nation awarded the 2030 edition of the famous tournament.</p>
