<a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/richard-arnold-to-go-man-utd-begin-shake-up-sir-jim-ratcliffe-first-move-ahead-officially-joining-red-devils/blt99defe0d1f32a838#cs8c9af7fd60f229c0" target="_blank">United announced on Wednesday</a> that Arnold would be stepping down from his role as chief executive as the club prepare for Sir Jim Ratcliffe's investment in the club. Now, French outlet <a href="https://twitter.com/SportsZone__/status/1724786539350413665" target="_blank">Sport Zone</a> reports that Blanc has emerged as the leading contender to replace him, as he is already employed by INEOS, the group fronted by Ratcliffe, and oversees their sporting portfolio. He has previously worked for both Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Blanc worked as a sporting market executive at PSG and was chairman at Juventus. He currently works for Nice, a club that Ratcliffe has invested heavily in. It is claimed that he has already agreed a deal to take over at Old Trafford.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Arnold spent 16 years at Old Trafford before his departure, but only replaced Ed Woodward as chief executive in 2022. He has been forced to deal with a string of controversies involving players of late, including Mason Greenwood and Antony.
