The Belgian mentor had high praise for his team, both players on and off the field, suggesting that their unity played a major role in their victory," said Broos."I am a very happy coach, not only because we are qualified for the next round, but what a performance. You know, a coach can be satisfied when he sees his boys working, fighting on the pitch and doing what you asked. And, as a coach, I am happy to see a bunch of guys on the bench, who are supporting those on the field. I saw a family, I saw a team, who just wanted one thing, to go forward."

Broos praises family dynamic

Themba Zwane earned his second successive Man of the Match accolade and he expressed his views on the physical encounter and how Bafana had to remain calm under the circumstances. "First of all, we knew as team that it was going to be difficult and physical. So, we had to fight as a team and stand up for ourselves, try to fight and that is what we did as a team. We wanted to avoid unnecessary yellow cards and try to be calm," Zwane explained.

Bafana's approach saw the team surprisingly take on a more defensive role, which Broos explains was a tactical move due to the team's lack of rest days, "We tried to play very compact, because we had one day less recovery than our opponents, so we had to look a little bit, when and how we approach, and that's why we chose the tactic and on the day it was the right one," Broos concluded.

Good approach

With a bulk of Mamelodi Sundowns players in the national team setup, Zwane believes their experience would be key to guide Bafana through the tournament. "The rest will be good for us and in terms of quality, we have shown the quality, we have the quality to compete and try to push ourselves. I mean, we (Sundowns) play Champions League, so we know the level is high here, so we can compete and go forward," Zwane concluded.
