Bayern Munich hoping to land Bayer Leverkusen sensation Florian Wirtz for cut-price fee in 2025 - but they face stiff competition from Real Madrid

<p>According to journalist <a href="https://x.com/_kochmaximilian/status/1838983065068068937" target="_blank"><em>Maximilian Koch</em>,</a> Wirtz is 'very popular' with figureheads at Bayern - but Leverkusen will want to hold onto the 21-year-old. He adds the defending Bundesliga champions value the Los Blancos target at £125 million ($167m) but the German international may be available for £83.5m ($111.35m) next summer.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Wirtz, whose contract runs until 2027, had a breakout season in 2023-24 and scored 18 goals and bagged 20 assists along the way. He played a key role in Leverkusen's league and cup double and keeping onto him for the long-term will be key to their future success. The German himself said he was <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/florian-wirtz-bayer-leverkusen-transfer-germany-playmaker-join-bayern-munich/bltf5276c449cfc9dd0#cs8fb88834ecfe23bf" target="_blank">happy at Xabi Alonso's team</a> earlier this year but whether he will still be at the club for 2025-26 remains to be seen.</p>

<p>Attacking midfielder Wirtz - who joined Leverkusen from FC Koln in 2020 - has enjoyed an excellent start to the new season, scoring six goals and notching one assist in just seven matches in all competitions.</p>
