Valverde expressed his disbelief at having to constantly change tactical direction under Ancelotti during Saturday's Champions League final. Madrid struggled in the first-half as <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/borussia-dortmund-player-ratings-real-madrid-karim-adeyemi-ian-maatsen/blt87eb557ccfee0ff8#cs6dd19732ee5d589e" target="_blank">Dortmund squandered chance after chance</a>, but then grew into the game <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/real-madrid-player-ratings-vs-borussia-dortmund-dani-carvajal-vinicius-jr/bltfaf76fbd9ffdcdbb" target="_blank">before scoring two unanswered goals</a>. Valverde explained how Madrid's formation was fluid throughout, but eventually settled as a 4-3-3.

WHAT HAPPENED?

<a href="https://as.com/futbol/champions/borussia-dortmund-real-madrid-en-directo-final-de-champions-league-hoy-en-vivo-n/" target="_self">Speaking to Movistar </a>on Ancelotti's changes, Valverde said: "Moving it around the field a lot! I understood what he wanted more or less... because he called me so many times that he was a little crazy! But it's normal, we were receiving a lot of attacks and we changed to 4-3-3, which gave us stability."

WHAT VALVERDE SAID

Valverde claimed the second Champions League title of his career. While his long-term midfield partners <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/luka-modric-pays-difficult-tribute-toni-kroos-real-madrid-midfield-partner-retirement/bltef96aa3e47ebd2d3" target="_blank">Toni Kroos and Luka Modric have won six</a>, at just 25-years-old Valverde has the chance to chase down their records.
