Discussions have been taking place regarding the rearranged fixture.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Premier League rules dictate that any cancelled contest should be worked back into the top-flight diary at the next available midweek slot. Part of the problem there is that Liverpool are facing a stacked schedule. With Carabao Cup and <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/champions-league-2024-25-power-rankings/bltf41e9a385718e265" target="_blank">Champions League games to contend with</a>, the Reds may not be free again until mid-February.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>For now, according to the <a href="https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/everton-liverpool-date-merseyside-derby-34303508 " target="_blank"><em>Mirror</em></a>, that means pencilling in a derby date with Everton for Tuesday February 11 – as talks continue with the Premier League, police forces and television broadcasters. Said date will require a green light from UEFA as it falls on a Champions League matchday – when the knockout phase play-offs take place, which Liverpool appear set to avoid.</p>
