Schwarzer made his international debut against Canada in a World Cup qualifier and went on to make 109 appearances.He became the most-capped player for Australia when he surpassed Alex Tobin's appearance record in January 2011.Schwarzer was instrumental in their qualification for the 2006 World Cup, when they beat Uruguay in a penalty shootout to book their ticket.He helped the Aussies reach the round of 16 at that tournament and also featured at the 2010 World Cup where Australia finished third in their group on goal difference.

Wilshire was part of the Australian national team setup between 2004 and 2014, making 80 appearances and scoring eight goals.He featured for his country at both the 2006 and 2010 World Cups as well as the 2007 and 2011 AFC Asian Cups.

Rangers great Craig Moore made a name for himself as a tough tackler, who also possessed a sense of composure in high-intensity games.He made 52 appearances for Australia between 1995 and 2010, primarily at centre-back and featured at the 2006 and 2010 World Cup.In the latter years of his career, he was named Australia's captain.

Currently the assistant coach of the national team, Vidmar is one of Australia's most-capped stars with 76 appearances to his name.After a tough start to life with the national team, Vidmar flourished in the Guus Hiddink era and helped them qualify for the World Cup in 2006.However, despite making the squad, he had to withdraw for medical reasons, specifically an irregular heart rhythm. He did eventually return to professional football after an operation, playing his final game for the Socceroos in October 2006 against Paraguay.

LB: Tony Vidmar

Emerton was one of the most versatile players around and represented Australia between 1998 and 2012.Able to play in central midfield or out wide, along with his defensive abilities, Emerton was known for his speed, ball control and creativity.He made 95 appearances for Australia, scoring 20 goals between 1998 and 2012.He represented his country at the 2006 World Cup, helping Australia reach the round of 16, but missed the clash against Italy due to suspension.

RM: Brett Emerton

In an international career that spanned 14 years between 2001 and 2015, Bresciano made 84 appearances for Australia and scored 13 goals.He featured at three World Cups, two Asian Cups and the 2004 OFC Nations Cup, from which Australia won one Asian Cup and the OFC Nations Cup.It was Bresciano's goal against Uruguay that sent the match to a penalty shootout that Australia won to qualify for the 2006 World Cup for the first time in 32 years.

Nicknamed "Captain Socceroo", Warren as one of the first people in the country to promote the beautiful game in Australia.He made his debut for the national team in 1965, going on to play 42 international matches, including their first-ever appearance at the World Cup in 1974.Warren captained the national team in 1967 for the first time, before going on to lead them in 24 international games.

LM: Johnny Warren

Considered one of the greatest of all time, Cahill played in a variety of positions for Australia before taking up the striker role later in his career.It was as an attacking midfielder that he had the most impact for the national team, though.A box-to-box midfielder in his prime, Cahill scored 50 goals in 108 games for Australia between 2004 and 2018 and was the first Australian to score at a World Cup. In total, he scored at three World Cups (2006, 2010 and 2014) and still holds the record for most goals scored by an Australian in World Cup history.

AM: Tim Cahill

One of Australia's greatest footballers in modern day, Kewell represented his country at seven major international tournaments, including two World Cups in 2006 and 2010.The former Liverpool star appeared to be destined for greatness, but injuries prevented him from truly hitting the heights he seemed capable of.Between 1996 and 2012, Kewell made 58 appearances for Australia, scoring 17 goals.

ST: Harry Kewell

Another name who Premier League followers will fondly remember, Viduka captained the Australian side that reached the round of 16 at the 2006 World Cup, which remains their best performance at the tournament till date.Viduka made 43 appearances for the national team between 1996 and 2007, scoring 11 goals.Apart from the World Cup, his 43 caps included appearances at two Confederations Cups as well as the Asian Cup in 2007.
