WHAT THE FANS ARE SAYING

Palmer is the first player in 24 years to to come off the bench in a European Championship final and score an equaliser, according to <a href="https://twitter.com/OptaJoe/status/1812586984407482634" target="_blank">Opta</a>. The last player to do so was Sylvain Wiltord for France. Unlike in that final, however, it was Spain who went on to take a 2-1 lead late in the game, much to Palmer and England's disappointment.

Despite Palmer's effort, England suffered a second consecutive European Championship final defeat. The Three Lions will hope to regroup and put together another strong campaign when the 2026 World Cup rolls around.
