<p>Following a decision from UEFA's Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB), Porteous will miss the rest of the Euro 2024 group stage against Switzerland and Hungary due to being penalised for "serious rough play". WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>The Watfod centre-back was dismissed in the final moments of the first half of Scotland's 5-1 defeat to Germany following a <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-ng/lists/ian-wright-scotland-ryan-porteous-ilkay-gundogan-red-card/blt52a54f7f7d165d79" target="_blank">dangerous lunge on Ilkay Gundogan</a> in the penalty area. The incident wasn't punished in real time but was pulled up for a VAR check, resulting in Porteous being given his marching orders.</p>

<p>A UEFA <a href="https://disciplinary.uefa.com/" target="_blank">statement</a> read: "The CEDB has decided to&nbsp;suspend Scottish Football Association player, Mr. Ryan Porteous, for a total of two (2) UEFA representative team competition matches&nbsp;for which he would be otherwise eligible, for serious rough play."</p>

WHAT UEFA SAID

<p>The Scottish Football Association has also been fined €5,625 (£4,752/$6,031) for objects thrown onto the pitch by fans during the <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-in/lists/scotland-player-ratings-germany-ryan-porteous-anthony-ralston-angus-gunn/blt30fc67e853c365db" target="_blank">heavy defeat in Munich</a>.</p>

<p>Realistically, Scotland will qualify for the last 16 if they take four points from their next two games. It may be possible with just three, although that would still leave them vulnerable to early elimination.
