UAE fines second player in a week for 'unethical hair'

Al Ain’s midfielder Caio has become the second player in a week in the United Arab Emirates to be fined for "unethical hair."

The Brazilian was fined AED1,000 (€219) by the UAE FA’s disciplinary committee for his hairstyle.

Caio's punishment comes just a week after Murad Batna of Al Wahda was hit with a similar fine for the same offence.

The UAE’s Arabian Gulf League imposes strict restrictions on hairstyles, and players who wear mohawks or leave the side of their heads shaved are at risk of fines.

Former Sunderland striker Asamoah Gyan also ran afoul of the league's hair restrictions last season

Gyan was one of 46 players found guilty of breaching the Arabian Gulf League's rules at the time.

Offending players are sent a letter threatening further action if the hair issue is not corrected.
