According to <a href="https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1783074462465769560" target="_blank">Fabrizio Romano</a>, the Anfield outfit are making inroads in their bid to appoint Feyenoord manager Slot as their next manager - with <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/jurgen-klopp-leaving-liverpool-reds-boss-bombshell-announcement-quitting-role-shock-video/bltba3be51866395e61" target="_blank">Jurgen Klopp stepping down at the end of the season.</a> While the deal is far from done, compensation talks have reportedly been positive and there is 'confidence' this is moving in the right direction.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Romano <a href="https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1783074462465769560" target="_blank">tweeted on Wednesday morning</a>: "Liverpool and Feyenoord are currently in good and constructive discussions about compensation fee for Arne Slot. As mentioned earlier, there’s no release clause but clubs in talks to agree on fee. Despite initial bid not accepted, discussions remain ongoing with confidence."

WHAT FABRIZIO ROMANO SAID

Finding a successor for Klopp was always going to be difficult, after winning the Premier League and Champions League among other titles at Anfield, but few would have predicted it would have panned out like this. <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/xabi-alonso-decision-rejects-bayern-munich-liverpool-bayer-leverkusen-stay/blt3f58b772b9b209a9" target="_blank">Xabi Alonso snubbed the Reds</a> to stay at Bayer Leverkusen and <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/revealed-ruben-amorim-will-not-succeed-jurgen-klopp-at-liverpool-west-ham-also-set-to-miss-out-on-sporting-boss/bltca274fa8ca60b7b0" target="_blank">Sporting Lisbon's Ruben Amorim is out of the running</a>, too. Now it seems Liverpool are moving for Slot, who has won the Dutch league and premier domestic cup since taking over as Feyenoord manager in 2021. Perhaps, Liverpool's three-month search for a new manager for the 2024-25 season is coming to a close.
