<p>According to <a href="https://x.com/Plettigoal/status/1844777379660710179" target="_blank">journalist Florian Plettenberg,</a> Bayern are keeping tabs on Verbruggen - whose contract at Brighton runs until 2028. They are, however, also monitoring FC Koln's Jonas Urbig - who has just under two years left on his deal. </p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Despite that, Plettenberg adds that Bayern are trying to extend the contract of 38-year-old Neuer, after 13 years with the Bundesliga giants. Moreover, they see 28-year-old Alexander Nubel - who is on loan at Stuttgart - as his long-term successor, which may cause Verbruggen some concern.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>Verbruggen swapped Anderlecht for Brighton for £16.3 million ($21.3m) in the summer of 2023 on a five-year deal. The 22-year-old has since gone on to become a regular for the Netherlands' national team but his form has been somewhat up and down for Brighton - with Jason Steele sometimes preferred between the sticks.</p>
