The German champions have long coveted Araujo and Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel considers the defender to be the ideal signing for his side. Tuchel <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-us/lists/thomas-tuchel-phone-bayern-munich-calls-ronald-araujo-desperate-sign-barcelona-centre-back/blt53485024d3de916e" target="_blank">even spoke with the defender on the phone</a> recently to try to convince him to move to Germany, however it appears that Araujo wishes to stay at Barcelona - at least this winter. This will not stop Bayern from tempting Barcelona's resolve, with <a href="https://twitter.com/Plettigoal/status/1738532410558431595" target="_blank">Florian Plettenberg reporting</a> they are insistent that Araujo is their key target.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Bayern have been unable to truly match their usual glorious standards this season, sitting in second place behind <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/xabi-alonso-future-real-madrid-manager-bayer-leverkusen-bayern-munich-bundesliga-challengers/blteeca23bdd43b6573" target="_blank">Xabi Alonso's high-flying Bayer Leverkusen</a>. Despite adding Kim Min-jae in the summer, the German side believe further defensive improvements are needed - and they come in the form of Araujo.

No Uruguayan international has ever played for Bayern Munich and should Araujo sign for the Bavarian giants, he would become the first.
