<p>Southgate became England boss in late 2016, taking over from Sam Allardyce after he became embroiled in a third-party ownership scandal. During his time in charge he guided the Three Lions to two European Championship finals and a World Cup semi-final, making him the best England manager of the 21st century.</p>

<p>England are yet to confirm his successor, however, Southgate already has his next job lined up as per <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13679657/BBC-Gareth-Southgate-Match-Day-Lineker-England-manager-Euros.html" target="_blank">The Daily Mail</a>. The former Aston Villa defender has been tipped to join Match of the Day as a pundit, though the BBC will face competition from ITV for his signature.</p>

<p>The BBC want to have their top broadcaster Gary Lineker and Southgate together for their show after the former heavily criticised the England boss during Euro 2024. Lineker called <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/gary-lineker-scathing-assessment-england-euro-2024-questions-kalvin-phillips-claim-gareth-southgate/blt342ade66c2ca6708" target="_blank">Southgate 'tactically inept' and went on to label his side 's*it'</a> after their group stage draw against Denmark.</p>
