EPL Best Bets Matchweek 16: Premier League Predictions & Bet Picks

EPL Matchweek 16 represents the final set of fixtures before the six-week break for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Once Sunday’s matches have concluded, we will not see Premier League action again until the day after Christmas.

League leaders Arsenal will hope to remain atop the table heading into the long layoff, while Manchester City will look to close the two-point gap between them and the Gunners before the second half of the season.

At the opposite end of the table, Southampton and Wolves will be looking for positive results after officially appointing new managers Nathan Jones and Julen Lopetegui, respectively, in recent days.

So, what should we expect in Matchweek 16 of the Premier League? Let’s look at current betting lines to find the best bets and props.

All odds and bets are provided courtesy of BetMGM Sportsbook as of Thursday, Nov. 10, at 5 p.m. ET, unless otherwise noted.

John Arlia's 2022-23 EPL Betting Record: 14-15 (+2.4 units)

Tottenham vs Leeds Best Bet

➕ Tottenham: Under 0.5 1st Half Goals (+120) at BetMGM

WAGER: 1 Unit

Spurs enter the weekend in fourth position, however, recent injuries to key attacking players have brought about a dip in form.

Tottenham have lost three of their last four league matches, and while each of those came against top-half opposition, their lone victory required a two-goal fightback against relegation candidates Bournemouth.

The absences of Son Heung-min, Richarlison, and Dejan Kulusevski have all played a part in this recent run, though the latter two were able to come off the bench in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Antonio Conte’s side has noticeably struggled to kick into high gear from the opening whistle over the past month, failing to find the net in the first half of any of their last eight matches across all competitions.

Although Leeds are more than capable of conceding goals, Jesse Marsch’s high-pressing style should be more effective in the opening half than the final 45.

This remains a value bet, and if you’re feeling risky, I like a Leeds/Tottenham Halftime/Fulltime wager at (+1900) as well.

West Ham vs Leicester City Best Bet

➕ Leicester & Over 2.5 Total Goals (+450) at BetMGM

WAGER: 1 Unit

After a poor start to the season, Leicester City have turned things around. The Foxes have taken 10 points from their past five matches, with their only defeat coming by a 1-0 margin against Manchester City.

Meanwhile, West Ham have lost three of their last four league matches, with the lone victory coming at home over Bournemouth.

These two teams have played some fascinating fixtures over the last few years, with each of the last seven EPL meetings between the two clubs featuring at least three goals.

There is a good chance this match does, too, and I like Leicester to continue their recent run of form.

Newcastle vs Chelsea Best Bet

➕ Newcastle (+130) at BetMGM

WAGER: 1 Unit

This match represents another clash of form, with third-place Newcastle looking the much stronger side of late than seventh-place Chelsea.

While these two teams were expected to be in opposition positions before the campaign began, the Magpies have been one of the surprise teams of the season. Eddie Howe’s side hasn’t lost since the end of August, winning four straight matches and six of seven in league play.

The same can’t be said for Chelsea, which stumbled again last weekend in a 1-0 home loss to Arsenal, their fourth consecutive match without a win in the league. More concerning was the fact that the scoreline flattered the Blues, who created very little going forward on the day.

Injuries to wingbacks Ben Chilwell and Reece James have affected the way Chelsea like to play, leaving new coach Graham Potter searching for answers. It won’t be easy to find any at St. James’ Park against an in-form Newcastle side.

Regardless of whether Miguel Almiron keeps his impressive goal-scoring run going, I’m expecting the home side to come out with all three points.
