Carsley was in charge of the Three Lions for the first time over the weekend as they <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/england-player-ratings-vs-ireland-declan-rice-jack-grealish-nations-league/blte9b8bb1e216fb44d" target="_blank">defeated his former international side, Republic of Ireland, 2-0</a>. Speculation has <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/give-lee-carsley-job-now-winners-losers-england-flatten-ireland-perfect-audition-gareth-southgate-successor-jack-grealish-declan-rice-harry-kane/blt889368d918ef61d8" target="_blank">continued to rage over his future</a>, however, since taking over from Gareth Southgate on a temporary basis, although he maintains he is simply in charge of the next three international camps.

The important thing is the team as opposed to the coaches - they should be the ones in the spotlight and getting the attention."
