Manchester United could live to regret how they failed to kill off Sevilla and then shot themselves in the foot with two late own goals.

The Red Devils were coasting thanks to two first-half strikes from the deadly Marcel Sabitzer and looked on course for an uplifting win.

Instead, a terrible mistake by Tyrell Malacia led to the Dutch defender scoring an own goal and handing Sevilla a way back. The Spaniards seized the momentum and levelled in injury time with another own goal, this time from Harry Maguire, who unwittingly deflected an errant header into his net.

United now face a daunting trip to the atmospheric Sanchez Pizjuan and it will take a lot of character for them to get through, especially as they will be without the suspended Bruno Fernandes and likely Lisandro Martinez, who left the pitch in tears. Raphael Varane also picked up an injury.
