<p>Philadelphia Union star Cavan Sullivan <a href="https://x.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1868241194372960708" target="_blank">spent the weekend in Manchester</a>, nine months after agreeing a high profile move to the reigning Premier League champions. WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Sullivan is one of the most highly rated prospects in American soccer history. The attacking midfielder starred for the Union's MLS Next Pro side this season, and signed a homegrown contract with Philadelphia in the spring. <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-us/lists/usmnt-cavan-sullivan-philadelphia-union-freddy-adu-record/blt72a3a1e1893743c7" target="_blank">Then-head coach Jim Curtin admitted that Sullivan</a> is ready for top flight action.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>Sullivan became the youngest debutant in American sports history when he came off the bench for the Union against New England in July. He was 14 years and 293 days old at the time.</p>

<p>The teenager figures to be part of the Union setup next month when they start preseason. Philadelphia parted ways with Curtin after failing to make the playoffs at the end of the 2024 campaign. </p>
