<a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/team/wrexham/206vnsjv8ho5kpf88y0u2gaic" target="_blank">Wrexham</a> have enjoyed a fairytale rise under the ownership of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, returning to the <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/league-two/bgen5kjer2ytfp7lo9949t72g" target="_blank">Football League</a> after a 15-year absence. Now, in a bid to earn a second consecutive promotion and rise to the third tier, the Hollywood stars could be about to plough more money into the Welsh club.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Speaking ahead of Wrexham's Welsh derby against Newport County on Saturday, manager <a href="https://www.leaderlive.co.uk/sport/24001828.wrexham-boss-phil-parkinson-always-looking-improve-squad/" target="_blank">Phil Parkinson said</a>: "I&nbsp;don't want to make any predictions for January in terms of incoming players. We have got a strong squad but we are always looking. As our supporters know, we are always striving to improve and we are assessing a lot of situations at the moment but we are keeping our cards close to our chest."

WHAT PARKINSON SAID

Wrexham have made a strong start to the season and currently sit third in the League Two table, six points behind leaders Stockport County with a game in hand. With a number of senior players like Steven Fletcher coming back into the fold after injury, the Red Dragons might need to sell players before they can buy, given that League Two clubs can only register 22 players to play in league games.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Wrexham will continue fighting for automatic promotion to League One. Failing that, Parkinson's side are well on course to secure a playoff place at the very least. Either way, a spending spree could be around the corner.
