No Wrexham transfer for League Two top scorer Andy Cook as he signs new contract with Bradford after being recommended as ideal Paul Mullin strike partner

WHAT HAPPENED? James Hanson had recommended that Wrexham sign Cook following a 31-goal season for Bradford City so that the club could pair him with PaulMullin in attack, but there is now no chance of the striker making the move this summer. He has instead committed his future to Bradford for the next three years, after the club finished sixth in League Two and were eliminated from the play-offs by Carlisle.

WHAT THEY SAID: Cook told the club's official website: “I am buzzing, over the moon to be here for another three years.

“I think everyone close to me knows this is where I want to be playing my football. I am delighted to have got it sorted as quickly as I have.

“I did have options elsewhere, but I wanted to stay here and help propel us to where we should be. I want to finish the business we started last season, and pick up where I left off on a personal note."

THE BIGGER PICTURE: Cook has been something of a journeyman throughout his career and has played for eight clubs in total, having joined Bradford from Mansfield Town in 2021. He has scored a total of 58 goals in League Two.
