The defender believes he is appreciated in the world of football despite <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/harry-maguire-vindicated-snub-transfer-man-utd-regained-place-erik-ten-hag-starting-xi/bltd5a80563680222a0#cs9e52c77818fd26b9" target="_blank">garnering criticism from certain sections of United fans</a> and claimed that he feels privileged to fulfill his childhood dream of representing his nation.He also reminisced about the wonderful times he has spent as an England international, but suggested that the Three Lions need to win major trophies now.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Speaking to reporters, Maguire said: "Listen, playing for my country means everything, it’s a huge honour and playing for my country is such a big privilege for me, it’s what I dreamed of as a kid so every time there’s a game I want to available, I want to play every minute, start every game and help the lads."It’s been a really successful six years for me since I made my debut, also for the team as well but now we just need to get over the line now. I know I’m appreciated in the dressing room. I know I’m appreciated in the football world, coaches, players, the support I have from ex-players, managers and I know I’m really appreciated in the world of football. WHAT MAGUIRE SAID

The 30-year-old became an outcast after Erik ten Hag joined the Red Devils last season, appearing in just 16 Premier League games and clocking just 759 minutes on the pitch. Yet he never gave up. Since Lisandro Martinez got ruled out of action at the end of September, Maguire has become a mainstay on the club's team sheet. He was linked with a move out of the club in the summer as West Ham reportedly showed interest in signing him, but chose to fight for his place.

The former Leicester star is set to take the pitch for his club next on Sunday as Ten Hag's side face Everton in a crucial encounter. United are currently sixth in the Premier League table, seven points behind leaders Manchester City.
