Now, Begiristain has opted to step back and has the backing of other club chiefs.</p>

<p>With the help of Begiristain, the Premier League champions have already decided on and reached an agreement with his replacement, who will start in the role early next year. Begiristain will remain at the club for six months to handover his duties to his successor.</p>

His contract expires at the end of the season and, with City <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/revealed-start-date-man-city-115-charge-ffp-hearing-premier-league/blt1fbd32bdb681f2cc" target="_blank">facing 115 charges for of breaching financial regulations</a>, there are fears that this will be his last year at the club.</p>
