<p>Per the <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-14118153/Man-United-PSG-star-Ruben-Amorim-Champions-League-winner.html" target="_blank"><em>Daily Mail</em></a>, United are considering signing a new left-back and could go after Paris Saint-Germain and Portugal defender Mendes. With Tyrell Malacia yet to convince the manager of his performance after returning from a lengthy injury and Luke Shaw's constant injury struggles, Amorim could consider reuniting with his former player who made his senior debut under the Portuguese manager at Sporting CP in 2020.</p>

<p>The report also adds that Amorim has tried Shaw as a left centre-back in his training sessions as <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/press-high-stop-losing-ball-ruben-amorim-outlines-man-utd-playing-the-way-warns-players-knows-every-trick/blt5f58ec5770cd7cd0" target="_blank">he wants to deploy a 3-4-3 formation</a>, however, the English defender is still not fit enough to take the field in the coach's debut game against Ipswich Town on Sunday in the Premier League. </p>

<p>Mendes garnered a lot of praise during his time with Sporting CP as he was appreciated for his pace on the flanks. He won the Liga Portugal title once under Amorim before moving to the French capital in 2022 on a £31.5million (€48m) transfer move. </p>
