'It's not football' - Jenni Hermoso slams Brazil's tactics after Spain Olympics upset as reigning world champions miss out on final clash with USWNT

<p>Brazil pulled off a massive upset in the Olympic games on Tuesday as they <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/news/brazil-stuns-world-champion-spain-paris-olympic-semifinals-advance-gold-medal-match-uswnt/blt54420c7b892c9cb6" target="_blank">thrashed reigning world champions Spain 4-2</a> to book their berth in the gold medal clash against the United States women's national team. An own goal from Irene Paredes opened the scoring, before Gabrielle Portilho and Adriana da Silva put Brazil 3-0 up heading into the final twenty minutes. Duda Sampaio put through her own net to give Spain hope, but Kerolin then made it 4-1 to Brazil and a stoppage-time strike from Salma Paralluelo amounted to nothing more than a consolation effort for La Roja.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Spain captain Hermoso was furious after her team's semi-final loss as she accused the Brazilians of playing rough and time-wasting. However, the 34-year-old forward also admitted that Spain did commit some mistakes and did not play their natural game.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>Speaking to reporters after the match, the experienced striker said: "We conceded four goals to a team that, for me, doesn't play football. But at the end of the day, what counts are the goals. They study us, they know how to 'hit' us, play behind our backs.</p><p>"For me, it's not football. I don't like that kind of football. Obviously, they gain minutes, they make you waste time and, for them, that was worth it. They're in the final and we're going for the bronze. I think it was our mistake. We didn't play our football. I liked our second half, but it was difficult with 4-2 to the opponent."</p>

WHAT JENNI HERMOSO SAID

<p>Montserrat Tome's La Roja will now face Germany in the Bronze medal clash on Friday at Stade de Lyon. Brazil and the USWNT will face off for the gold medal a day later.</p>
